Guzzi Birds do GB Appeal!
August 10th to 20th 2006
Calling all Guzzi Birds... This is a great opportunity for you to do what you enjoy... Ride your motorcycle, take part in an adventure, travel 1,500 miles around G.B. Make a difference: Raise money for the Orchid Cancer Appeal.
Thank you for the great response to my article about Guzzi Birds do GB that appeared in the last Gambalunga. It has been heartening to speak to people who want to get involved.
I have had offers ranging from Guzzi Birds who want to ride for the whole
trip to Guzzi Men wanting to join us for part of the route. I haven't decided
what the men will have to do in order to be an honorary Guzzi Bird, however
it may involve blond pigtails.
We now have six Guzzi Birds doing the whole thing. If you missed the deadline
but feel like a challenge I am willing to accept a further two riders on
a first come first served basis.
I have also been approached by a number of members who want to know how
they can sponsor the riders or raise money themselves for the Orchid Cancer
Appeal. Sponsor forms are now available, contact me at 01522 853060, email
sue-proguzzi@ntlworld.com
Please continue to contact me about anything to do with this event. By the
time this has been published I will have met with the Charity, along with
Robin and Serena to discuss the necessary arrangements so I will have some
more answers to your questions.
One thing that you can be certain about is that all the monies raised will go to the Orchid Cancer Appeal. The costs and arrangements for the journey will be kept to a minimum by using various networks and contacts. The riders themselves will meet all remaining costs. Talking of raising money I would particularly like to thank the Pennine Branch for donating £37, the proceeds from their recent raffle. It was our first donation and I will continue to keep you all informed of the monies we raise.
Another welcome contribution has come from Tira Humphreys. Tira is hoping to join us for some of the journey and has designed the logo at the top of the page, which we are planning to use in association with this event.
It will take a while to finalise the route but details will be available well before the event. I will be contacting the Branches along the route for advice about roads and accommodation in the next few weeks.
When it is cold and snowing outside there is nothing better than to be planning for a summer trip, on the bike, in the sunshine with your friends!
