History
How
it all started
The Club was founded in 1976 by a small band of just 40 enthusiasts and has steadily grown ever since.
Where did this lead
With the new range of Moto Guzzi motorcycles produced, the club is seeing an increase of membership. In 2004 membership was approx. 2000 strong and covered the whole of the UK and Ireland. In 2006 (the clubs 30th Anniversary year) the Club's membership grew to just over 3,000 strong.
Although a National Club in concept, over the years it has also formed some 30 active branches nationwide to cater for local activities.
Communication
In keeping with most all other motorcycle organisations, The Club has always recognised the importance of having a top-class magazine, and quickly progressed from a monthly newssheet to the very popular present day journal "Gambalunga" (meaning long-legged) which is now produced to a very professional standard, bristling with lively debate, technical articles and all the latest gen on the Guzzi scene.
In 2004 the club invested in webspace to host heir own website, which aspires
to complement Gambalunga. In 2006 a new webmaster took over the role of
looking after the clubs website and the website went through an upgrade
and a makeover in an effort to improve site navigation and system stability.
The site aims to inform current and potential future members about the Clubs
benefits and activities, Moto Guzzi related news and facts as well as general
useful information for motorcycle riders and enthusiasts. Striving to enable
members and Moto Guzzi enthusiasts worldwide to share information, personal
experiences and allow comunication regardless of distance a forum has been
added.
30th Anniversary Year
2006 saw the clubs 30th Anniversary Year with a number of special events and a charity ride named Guzzi Birds do GB.
The future
We, the elected committee members and all who help make the Moto Guzzi Club GB what it is, will continue to do our best to run the club for our members and with our members in mind. We try and give members value for money and provide the services and benefits they want.
