Hey there, I'm a new member and I think you lot are my nearest area!
(I'm in North London but only 10mins from Potters Bar).

I'm aware I just missed a meet on Monday, had to work late.
Will try to make the next one, but let me know anything in the interim - I can get to the Ace pretty easily.

I went there in July for 'Shaft Drive Sunday' but there was only my Lemon 3 and a nice V35 representing Guzzi and the rest was the usual new chain drive Japanese sports nonsense and Harleys - so bit disappointing!

Anyway, lemme know anything thrilling! I also have a Citroen Dyane (like a 2CV, flat twin engine) and they've got a big shindig the same weekend as the V twin one, so not sure which one I'll make it to. Decisions!

Anyone else have an old, (should I say classic?) Guzzi? I think I saw a Lemon 2 in the club pics...

Cheers,
Paul.

Welcome Paul.

I'm a Citroen flat twin fan as well, having until recently owned a Lomax 223 and many years ago a 2CV6 Dolly. Andrew Payne is also a bit of a Citroenian (if that's a word?).

There seem to be Guzzis of all ages and sizes turning up at club meets. All are welcome. We even talk to non-Guzzisti - while we try to convert them.

Ahhh Lomaxs are cool! They look like the old Morgan 3 wheelers.

The prototype 2CV had a 500cc BMW engine in it, which was re-designed for the production version so I tell myself its really a motorbike with 4 wheels...

I've stumbled into Guzzi ownership without any external influence - It just seemed the right thing to do!

Sounds like you're just up the road from me.

I'm also in North London, due south of Potters Bar, in LB Enfield.

I intend to go to next month meet (as I've got my mistrals on and want to show off! - will come with the baffles out I think), so I could meet you on the way. Went a couple of months ago (beautiful evening, took great group photo - see Richard's website Guzzimad) and there was a chap there on a Stelvio from Harpenden, who suggested we meet up to ride there together, as he knows the lanes well (more than I do, I have to take the A1). Perhaps we can go as a group of 3. Or more.

Anyway, reply by all means, PM me for/with location details.

OK, I'm actually Southgate, so sounds like I'd be coming past you... maybe we could hook up near the M25 roundabout and then travel to wherever the stelvio guy is...

although I do have a satnav, so in theory can't get lost and could avoid A1.

I shall check my email!

Picked up clutch lever and footpeg from CorsaI friday night, fitted yesterday (and that was a job too; footpeg gap for spring smaller than original so had to be filed out to get spring in, plus trying to get clutch cable back into handle proved very difficult for something that should be so simple), removed baffles, went for a run. All sorted! Apart from getting my money back, and fixing minor cosmetic damage, that is.

All being well, see you all Monday night - you'll probably hear me coming down the road - back fires a bit on the overrun with the baffles out! Embarrassed

great, well done - looks like all on for this eve then, see everyone there who's going!

One of my silencers needs tightening a bit which I may or may not have time to do, so Hitchin may think its getting an earthquake this evening.

Getting twin throttle cables back into the handle simultaneously is fun too!!

Oh blimey, we're in Oakwood, we didn't realise we HAD to own a Guzzi when we moved hereShocked, we hope to make the next meeting if MG send our new bike in time. Haywards tell me the bits have turned up but the bike is still missing Cry, everyone at MG has gone on a ride out (save the factory presumably) so no-one knows wher our bike is! Very Italian!!

Stelvio looking most unlikely due to sales manager at Haywards being incorrectly titled. Might still nip up on SV to make myself feel even more fed-up/fondle other Stelvios.

Ed at Haywards came through on the wire, 5 o/c on Friday he called me to collect on Sat. Suspension set up on Sat night and off we went on Sunday, clocked up 300 miles doing the coast road from Herne Bay to Brighton, what a lovely bike! See you this evening.

Hi Richard and the rest of the Herts and Beds branch, I am hoping to come up and see you all on Mon 2nd Nov, depending on the weather and meet up for a chat.

I have posted the item below in the East Anglian Section of this site under the heading of "New Essex Branch" but have had little response.

With the demise of the West Essex branch in Epping, and noticing that there are always more new members in Essex with each issue of Gambalunga, I was wondering if there was any interest in starting a branch, or more informal meeting in Essex?

Last year a member in Harlow contacted me with the same idea, and a few years ago I put the same idea in print in Gambalunga but there was not much response.

Traditionally I have not been a great attender of the club's events, the EA branch fell on the night my children would stay with me, and I don't do camping! (Credit card and a change of clothes is all you need to tour). But now with slowly advancing years, and children growing up, I want to get out on my bike a little more and meet like minded people.

This is in no way an attempt to move/alter/revise the current East Anglian branch (and of course the Herts and Beds branch) and its meetings, I hope to get to more (meetings) over the summer and autumn months, and also to Gt Bentley.
What do you think?

Since I posted this there have been a few people contact me, but as the second nearest branch to me after Ipswich I wondered how you people thought of the geograpical gap between your own branch, Ipswich, mid Kent and West London?

If the weather stays like this I will see you on Monday

Best wishes

To the Herts and Beds branch

I am having a little trouble with the carburation on the bike since I changed the air filter yesterday. What with that and the two Suffolk lads making their excuses and the obviously cold night approaching..... I have decided to miss the Herts and Beds meeting tonight!

Sorry to Pete who was keen to go, I think that we will have to work on that one! I would like the ride out as well but on a fully working bike in a little warmer weather! I guess that it won't be getting much warmer after dark until the srping now?
