JANUARY 2010 NEWSLETTER
January’s Branch Meet was very well attended but there were no Guzzi’s in The Hermits Car Park. Very different from some of the Branch Meets we have had this year as we have seen 24 Guzzi’s in the car park a few times.

In December we had our Branch End of Year Party where we did what we do best that is eat and drink loads of booze. The usual fun raffle with the added attraction of an auction of a Moto Guzzi waistcoat raised a massive £100.00 for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Thank you all for your donations as well as your monies.

Though 2009 was a bad year for the economy it did not stop, our Guzzi’s getting out and about.

March saw us at The Ace Café London for the Honda CX & CL Day.
April, at Southend for The Southend Shakedown, as well as a breakfast run to Jacks Hill, followed by a ride down to the Ace for the Kawasaki Sunday.
May, at The Ace Café once again for the Italian Bike Day. A pre ride meal was held at The Orange Tree in Hitchin for those of us who were going on The Guzzi Victory Ride.
Then there was the BMF at Peterborough, Pete McCoy and Rob Short even helped to staff the Guzzi Club GB stand.
June was The Guzzi Victory Ride. Poor Pete McCoy broke down on the M20 and had to be rescued by the RAC. The rest of us went onto Belgium where we stayed at The Bikerloft, visiting various First World War sites. The most moving experience of the weekend was the sounding of The Last Post and the parade at The Menin Gate in Ypres.  This is held every evening at 8pm 365 days of the year.
A couple of our members even made it down to Cassington Bike Night.
July we managed to get to The Great Offley Bike Show and of course we had the Guzzi Guzzle BBQ where the weather was great and even the water pistols came out. Ton Up Day at Jack Hill saw a few of our Guzzi’s turn out.
August, saw ‘us’ men of the Branch at The Man’s Rally (The Bulldog Bash)  We had another ride down to The Ace Café for Ladies Day, then later in the month some of us went to The Brackley Festival of Motorcycling. Of course, there was The Vee Twin Rally, which saw us once again with bad heads and red eyes.
September was another busy month with a few of us going down to Brighton for the Quadrophenia Rock Show. Baldock Bike Day was another great day. Then once again back down to Brighton for the Brighton Burn Up. Several of us even made it to the AGM.
October, we had a breakfast ride on a very nice Sunday to the Super Sausage on the A5.  On another Sunday, we went to the Ace Café for lunch, then once again back to Brighton for Brightona.
November we had our Green King Brewery Tour which included a visit to Max Moto as well as some very nice fish and chips for lunch.

This year we are starting with a trip to the RAF museum at Hendon, which is set for Saturday 30th of January more details to follow.

Let us hope that we have an even better time this year.

Take care,
Richard & Hazel.
