Hi I am new to owners club having just acquired a 2003 v11 le mans. I use Dunfermline motorcycles for my servicing and took the guzzi round to show them recently. They sem to have a very good knowledge of guzzis and are all round excellent mechanics, the owners are brothers and do all the work themselves rather than employing mechanics. So if you are looking for someone you can trust to service your guzzi they will definitely do a good proper job.

welcome to the club. Now the secrets out, Paul and Raymond Chiappi are very good motorcycle engineers and can sort most things, unfortunately they do not have the diagnostic computer needed for some of the jobs on the fuel injected bikes. |

I'm moving up to Glasgow in a couple of weeks with my Griso 8v. Hadn't realised how lucky I'd been living close Moto Corsa in Dorset (www.motocorsa.co.uk). They've been great.
448 miles is a long way to go for a service though, so I'll be skinning my own knuckles from now on. |

They are joking of course.
Glasgow is a well known centre of interlectual excellence.
They have the fine art of gay repartee down to a T.

Where abouts are you moving to in Glasgow? There are plenty of good biking roads that you can get to easily from the Glasgow area.

Hi Jibdel - I'm already looking forward to the roads! Not so much the weather though... I'm told that the A82 up past Loch Lomond is a classic, and having walked the West Highland Way a couple of years back I can believe it. Are there any others you'd recommend? I'm moving to the West End of Glasgow... first task is to find myself a good secure garage closer than Balloch (which is where the bikes going to live at first). |

Balloch - such a fine location............and what a ****** dump. If it were a person we would have shot it by now. The A82 gets fun north of Tyndrum, but south of that is a bit dull and attracts hords of cars. Nearly every direction from Glasgow has fun roads, except towards Edinburgh. And dodgy guzzi characters live over that way - hobbits and the like. Don't forget Argyle - quiet, beautiful and you can mix roads and car ferries all in one day. And don't forget the borders. It's been raining for months now, so when you arrive their just can't be any rain left........ |

You'll be lucky to find off road parking to keep your bike in the west end and if you do it wont be cheap. Your best bet would be to look up Glasgow Gumtree, online, or when you get here you could try one of the many letting agents who may be able to sort you out with a lock up or garage.

Thanks for the advice everyone... I'll remember to encourage the locals in their gay repartee, whilst keeping an eye out for those Edinburgh hobbits. Hopefully the unserviced Griso won't be being nicked from my disgruntled girlfriend's living room at the time.
And returning to the topic (my deviation), I think I'll give Jim Allan's a try for servicing - they're on Moto Guzzi's approved mechanics list, and nobody seems too offended by them. |

You could try Mel Robinson at Guzzi Parts, he's very good. He's in Glasgow and been working with and tuning Guzzis for years. His number is 07973869715.

I got his card from Derek S. All I know is he's parted company with BMW & is getting back into the Guzzis again. I believe he's working from home at the moment but he has all the equipment needed to work on & tune Guzzis. Anyone needing any work done just give him a call.

I can confirm that Mel is working for himself again, as he did an electronic tune-up for my 1100 sporti just the other week. The bike didn't really need it, (from the last time he balanced it well over two years ago) but he does a great job and the bike really purrs. Strongly recommended.
